Apple today previewed iOS 18, a major release that features more customization options, the biggest redesign ever of Lock Screen, and new ways to communicate and share. As anticipated, the latest iOS 18 supports all the iPhones supported by the existing iOS 17. Therefore, even the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max launched in 2018 will be able to run iOS 18.
Key features of iOS 18
- New Lock Screen: The Lock Screen has been redesigned with new widgets, fonts, and colors. You can now also add widgets to your Lock Screen, so you can see important information at a glance without having to unlock your phone.
- Focus modes: Focus modes have been updated to be more customizable. You can now create custom Focus modes for different activities, such as work, sleep, or personal time.
- Messages: Messages has been updated with new features, such as the ability to edit and unsend messages, and to collaborate on projects with others.
- Mail: Mail has been updated with new features, such as the ability to schedule emails and to unsend emails.
- Safari: Safari has been updated with new features, such as the ability to group tabs and to translate web pages.
- Generative AI: iOS 18 will include new generative AI features, such as the ability to generate text, images, and music.
